If you’re planning a wedding, then you already have so much to think about. Making a guest list, sending out invitations, booking a reception hall, and getting the perfect dress – it’s enough to make you want to tear out your hair!

But in the hustle and bustle of planning the best day of your life, is it possible that you could forget one vitally important detail? That’s right – we’re talking about wedding transportation. Although the topic may not be as exciting as finding the perfect shoes to match your wedding gown, choosing the right wedding transportation could make or break the smooth execution of your big day.

Here we go! You’re going to need wedding transportation, like a limo rental, to and from the church at a bare minimum. If your wedding ceremony and reception happen to be in the same facility, then you may be all set.

But not so fast… Many couples also prefer to book a limo to take them from the wedding reception to their hotel for the night before embarking on their honeymoon, especially if they’ve had more than a few drinks.

When planning transportation for your wedding, make sure to take into account the bride, groom, wedding party, and any family members that may need a lift if they happen to live out of town. Also, some brides may choose to transport a makeup artist, hair stylist, and wedding planner if they need extra TLC once they arrive at the reception.

According to expert wedding website The Knot, it’s important to book a car rental company roughly six months before a wedding. In fact, as soon as you make the final decision on a wedding date and book ceremony and reception venues, reserving wedding transportation should be your next step.

If you’re getting married in a busy season, like graduation time in May and June, keep in mind that formal transportation, like limos, will be highly in demand. If that is the case, make sure to book as early as possible, with a recommendation of nine months in advance.

If you’re looking for classic wedding transportation, a stretch limo will fit the bill. Depending upon your taste and personality, you may want to book a unique limo outside of traditional black, such as pink or white.

Many guests with vintage wedding themes opt for non-traditional transportation like trolleys, horse-drawn carriages, and classic cars. Your ability to book this type transportation will depend upon what is available in your local area.

If you want to make your wedding transportation stand out, you can also choose to decorate a standard black limo; or, members of your wedding party may “bestow this honor on you” themselves by decorating your getaway car with washable paint, ribbons, and cans.

Last but not least, set an afternoon aside to personally inspect the vehicles that you rent. There’s nothing worse than spending a large chunk of your wedding budget on luxury transportation, only to end up disappointed. Any limo company worth their salt will be more than happy to show you the vehicles that you have rented before the big day.
